About

My name is Afton Coombs (they/them). I am a movement artist and technical worker with an interest in human-centered research, preservation of traditional dance forms, and anti-surveillance movement practices.

As a dancer, my background is in tap, flatfoot, and house. I both practice improvised & authentic forms of these dances and created choreographed pieces. My choreography tends to involve technology, especially interactive or anti-surveillance technology. When I create autobiographical solo work, it usually discusses my own experiences with queerness, neurodivergence, and nonbinarity.

As a data scientist and developer, I have worked in analytics, experimentation, data visualization, survey design, and web development. I most enjoy using these technical skills for artists and educators.
